Auburn and Memphis played to a scoreless tie in a preseason exhibition soccer match on Saturday evening at Mike Rose Stadium in Memphis. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Chandler Hillen, making her first collegiate start, saw 12 shots fired her way and she saved the only shot put on frame in the 90-minute match.
Both teams had multiple scoring chances in the second half but neither team could find the back of the net. Auburn took four shots in the first half and seven in the second, putting four on frame, while Memphis had nine second half shots.
Auburn had the first two scoring chances of the game. The first opportunity came on a shot by Tatiana Coleman in the 10th minute in which Memphis goalkeeper Elise Kuhar-Pitters made a sliding save. Auburn's second scoring chance of the half came in the 29th minute ona Julie King header that hit the crossbar.
Memphis' two scoring chances came in the 36th and 38th minutes, respective. Freshman Kylie Davis took a header that went wide right. Taylor Isenhower followed with a shot that went wide left.
King led Auburn with four shots while Coleman and Mary Coffed each had two.
Auburn opens the season on Friday, Aug. 19, at home against No. 18 Wake Forest at 7pm.
