    Mary Coffed had two goals against the Beat of the WPS

    The Auburn soccer team held a 2-1 lead on the Atlanta Beat of the WPS during an exhibition match at the Auburn Soccer Complex last Thursday before falling, 3-2. Mary Coffed scored both of Auburn's goals in the exhibition while Katy Frierson had an assist.

    Auburn went up 1-0 just over four minutes in when Frierson split the back line with a ball through to Coffed. Coffed then went on a 25-yard breakaway 1v1 and beat the Beat keeper to her right.

    The Beat evened it at a goal apiece 15 minutes in when it is sent a rebound back in on Amy Howard only to have Coffed collect a rebound from a corner kick 10 minutes later to put Auburn back up a goal, 2-1, with 19 minutes left. Frierson had served in a corner that Julie King headed into the mix with the rebound coming out to Coffed, who one-timed it in from 12 yards out.

    The Beat tied it at 2-2 with just over nine minutes left in the first half on a 1v1 play.

    The Beat scored the game winner at the 20:22 mark of the second half with a goal from 20 yards out.

    Auburn's next exhibition will be at 7pm on Friday, March 26, against UAB at the Auburn Soccer Complex.
