AUBURN, Ala. -
Katy Frierson and Mary Coffed each scored goals as Auburn picked up a pair of 1-0 wins to open up its spring soccer exhibition season. Auburn defeated Mercer and then Tennessee as the three teams played 60 minute matches on Saturday at the Auburn Soccer Complex.
Jessica Rightmer fed Frierson at the top of the 18 for the lone goal in the match against Mercer. Frierson's strike with four minutes left went to the back post.
Frierson was again involved in Auburn's second game as she took a feed from Gabi Rivera and fed it to Coffed on the left flank. Coffed then beat a defender in the box and blasted a shot past the Tennessee goalkeeper from 12 yards out.
The exhibition matches was the first game-type action for Maddie Barnes, Tasia Williams, Mary Nicholson and Rivera, all of which missed the 2009 season due to redshirts.
