AUBURN, Ala. -
The Auburn University gymnastics team took part in its annual Thanksgiving Intra-Squad scrimmage on Tuesday afternoon at the McWhorter Center. Six gymnasts and one alternate competed in each of the four events, and the Tigers hit 27 of the 28 routines.
"This was a great way for us to send the kids off on Thanksgiving break," head coach Jeff Thompson said. "This was a great day and we are very excited about where the kids are individually, as well as where the team is."
AU was resting four of last year's top six competitors, which gave other Tigers the chance to step forward and be seen.
"I think today's performance proves how much depth we have and how hard the girls have been working," Thompson said. "The only thing we lack now are the finishing touches, which we will start adding next week."
There is still one more chance to see Auburn in action before the season begins. The team will hold their final scrimmage on December 15 at 11:30 a.m. at the McWhorter Center.
Season ticket passes for Auburn's five home meets will be available for purchase, which includes match-ups against North Carolina State, Kentucky, LSU, Arkansas and Alabama. The cost is $20 for an adult, $8 for youth (ages 2-18) and $48 for a Family Pack (four tickets).
