AUBURN – Members of the Auburn gymnastics team had one event left before they could begin their Thanksgiving break – the second intrasquad meet of the fall semester on Friday afternoon.
Wearing their pink leotards that they will sport during the 2012 pink meet, Auburn completed the meet in just over two hours at the McWhorter Center.
“This is our first actual week of full routines, actually training that way, and that's what we showed today,” head coach Jeff Graba said. “I feel like everybody's in a pretty good spot right now. They're all capable, they're all doing a good job and nobody looks really tired, so we're pretty happy with that."
Auburn completed full rotations on bars, beam, floor and vault with six to eight gymnasts completing each event.
Graba is pleased with where his team stands at this point and the track they are on with the 2012 season scheduled to begin in a little over one month on January 4.
"We're miles ahead of where we were last year,” the second-year coach said. “We feel like this team is in better shape than last year. We're healthier than last year, our skill level is higher, and we're actually doing better gymnastics at this point – routine wise. As far as where we expect to be, I think we're right on pace for what we feel this team is capable of."
The Tigers are tentatively scheduled for another intrasquad meet on December 12.
