AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn gymnastics coach Jeff Graba announced the signing of gymnasts Abby Milliet and Sarah Garcia on Thursday for the Class of 2014.
This 2014 class is an exciting and dynamic class for our program,” Graba said. “I couldn’t be more excited to welcome them to our Auburn gymnastics family.”
Milliet, who competes as a Senior International Elite, will join Auburn from Denton Gymnastics Academy in Denton, Texas. She is coached by Rodica and Aurel Lazar.
“Abby is easily one of the most accomplished international elite gymnasts to ever join our program and we are extremely excited to welcome her to our team,” Graba said. “She brings a rare combination of grace, power and an international flare to our team that I think our fans are really going to appreciate.”
She finished eighth in the all-around, balance beam and floor exercise at the 2013 P&G Championships in Hartford, Conn. At the 2013 Secret U.S. Classic in Chicago, Illinois, Milliet was third in uneven bars, fourth in all-around, while also placing fifth in balance beam and seventh in floor exercise.
Garcia trains at SCEGA in Temecula, California. She finished first in the all-around at the 2013 J.O. National Invitational Tournament, while placing second on vault and uneven bars.
“Sarah brings a tremendous amount of power and national caliber experience to our program,” Graba said. “I believe her skill level and determination are going to be a real asset to this team.”
Garcia, a Level 10, is coached by Kathy Strate, Meredith Paulicivic and Luis Garcia at SCEGA.
Auburn opens the 2014 season on January 10 in Auburn Arena against Texas Woman’s College.
