Auburn, Ala.- Seven Auburn gymnasts were honored for academic excellence by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women as Scholastic All-Americans, the association announced today, Aug. 5.

Freshman Laura Lane and junior Krissy Voss led the way for the Tigers, as both earned perfect 4.0 GPA for the 2008-09 academic year. Lane, a Glen Allen, Va. native, earned the perfect GPA majoring in applied math with an actuarial science option. Voss, hailing from Paradise Valley, Ariz., is a chemistry major.

A pair of graduated seniors also made the NACGC/W Scholastic All-America list. Claire Seiffert, a political science major, earned the plaudit for the fourh-time in her career. Classmate Lindsey Puckett, who earned Auburn's first All-SEC nod since 2005 last season, makes the list for the first time in her career. Puckett was a supply chain management major.

Sophomore Leah Vining, a sophomore math major made the list for the second time in her career. Additionally, a pair of freshman business majors, Kylie Shields and Kelsie Montgomery earned the honors during their first season on The Plains.

In order to be named as an individual scholar athlete by the NACGC/W, student-athletes must possess a 3.5 or higher current or cumulative GPA.
