AUBURN -

Junior Julie Dwyer was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team on Thursday.  This marked the second time in as many years that an Auburn gymnast earned an All-District award from ESPN the Magazine.  Nicole Barnett was named to the first team in 2006.

"I think it's great that Julie continues to be rewarded for all of her hard work in and out of the gym," head coach Jeff Thompson said.  "She is a great representative of our gymnastics program as well as the university."

Dwyer has collected a bevy of awards during her three year career as a Tiger.  Most recently, the two-time All-American was named Central Region Gymnast of the Year, making her the first Auburn gymnast to win the award.  She was also honored as the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, making her the first gymnast in SEC history to win SEC Freshman of the Year, SEC Gymnast of the Year and SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.  This past season, Dwyer collected 22 individual titles-- five in the all around, eight on beam, four on vault , three on bars and two on floor, bringing her career total to 59.

The Bloomington, Ind., native earned her third straight trip to Nationals after placing third in the all around at the NCAA Southeast Regional.  Dwyer also tied for first on the vault to earn her first Regional title.
