Rachelle Thompson Wins Aubie Award for Assistant Coach of the Year

AUBURN- Auburn gymnastics associate head coach Rachelle Thompson has received the Auburn Athletic Department's Aubie Award for co-assistant coach of the year for the second-consecutive year, sharing the award with equestrian's Lindsay Neubarth. "It is really a special thing that our athletic department takes the time and energy to put on the Aubie Awards each year and provide the staff with a few hours of great food, fun, and activities," said Thompson. The award was voted on by the entire Auburn athletic department. Last season, Thompson won the award outright. "It is an honor to be voted assistant coach of the year by your peers two years in a row and be recognized for hard work and dedication to the university as a whole," said Thompson. "It is quite special to know that I am in such good company with someone that works as hard as Lindsay does." Thompson, in her 11th season with the program, helped guide the Tigers to a an 8-15 record, and a fifth place finish at the 2010 SEC Championship. She also serves as floor exercise coach, an event where junior Rachel Inniss was the Salt Lake City Regional Champion in the exercise with a 9.9.
