AUBURN - The Auburn gymnastics team signed Brittany Webster to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Jeff Graba has announced. She will begin competing for the Tigers in the all-around.
"I'm very excited to have Brittany join our team," Graba said. "She is a tremendously powerful athlete who can readily help us on every event."
A native of Lee's Summit, Mo., Webster joins the 2011 signing class which includes Brianna Guy of Catonsville, Md., Caryn Kadous of San Antonio, Texas and Megan Walker of Brackney, Pa.
Webster trains at Kansas Gymnastics and Cheer in Olathe, Kan., and is coached by James Sampel, Jennifer Green and Annie Duncan. She was a member of the Region III team, which placed first at the Junior Olympic Nationals last year and was credited with the most creative dismount on bars.
"I fell in love with Auburn when I visited the campus on my official visit," Webster said. "I greatly appreciated the way the coaches interacted with the girls on team by encouraging them to do their best and creating a very positive and winning atmosphere. The girls on the team are a lot of fun and the campus is beautiful. Everyone is so friendly. The university has a strong reputation for academics, and it's in the SEC."
This season Webster has qualified for the Junior Olympic Nationals again May 11-15. She placed third at the Region III Regionals and second in the all-around at the Kansas State meet.
