BIRMINGHAM - Auburn gymnastics posted some of the top scores in program history in 2014, but also set a season attendance record with 27,888 fans packing in Auburn Arena in 2014.
"I am absolutely excited about the amount of fan support the gymnastics program has received over the last four years and in particular this year," Auburn head coach Jeff Graba said. "This just shows people across the country that our community is passionate about gymnastics and gives us a tremendous advantage moving forward!"
The program also set an average attendance record with an average of 5,578 fans attending the five home meets. Additionally, 2014 marked the fifth straight season that season ticket sales have improved for Auburn.
Auburn's home meet attendance average of 5,578 ranks eighth among women's sports in the SEC. A total of 59,827 fans saw Auburn gymnastics in all home and away meets in 2014, a mark that ranks seventh nationally.
"I was thrilled to learn that we have the eighth highest average attendance of any women's sport in the SEC," Graba said. "As part of the best athletics conference in the country it is a tremendous honor to have achieved such a lofty ranking. I was also fascinated to learn that our average attendance ranks us in the top 20 of all of women's sports in the NCAA. That puts us in the company of the very best programs in any sport across the nation.
"This is a real tribute to all the hard work, as well as a source of pride for our team, our fans along with the administration and staff of our university."
Overall, Auburn's average mark is the 20th best among all women's sports in NCAA Division I and ranks in the top 1 percent of more than 2,000 women's teams in the country's top amateur division.
