Tiger Gymnasts Working on Final Preparations for NCAA Regional
AUBURN -The No. 22 Auburn gymnastics team (7-11, 2-4 SEC) is wrapping up preparations for Saturday's NCAA Regional in Tuscaloosa, Ala., at 6 p.m. CT, after the team had its first week off since the start of the season on Jan. 7 at Iowa State.
"It's been good," Auburn head coach Jeff Graba said. "We had an intra-squad meet on Friday and that went really well. We've had two days of pretty good practice. Some of the other people that we are still looking at like Katie Hurley on vault for instance are starting to show some improvement so we feel like we are a little deeper now. We have just been fine-tuning. We are actually excited that we have been able to fix some of the little things."
The Tigers used the same lineup for the last three meets of the season but are prepared to make changes now with a healthy squad heading into the regional.
"There is a possibility that we will change the lineup," Graba said. "Katie (Hurley) hasn't competed in the full-on vault yet so we are going to warm her up and see how that goes. Since vault is our last event, it helps us gage how we are doing and if we want to take our chance and go for a bigger score or stay with a pretty solid lineup that we have had so far."
Auburn was selected as the No. 4 seed for the upcoming regional and will face the host school, No. 2 Alabama, as well as No. 11 Penn State, No. 14 Illinois, No. 25 Central Michigan and Kentucky.
Regional tickets are available now through RollTide.com and the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262) located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum on Alabama's campus. Adult tickets are $12 and youth tickets are $8.
