NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -

The No. 17 Tigers will open Saturday's 27th annual SEC Championship with a bye on Saturday.  Both head coach Jeff Thompson and junior gymnast Julie Dwyer were on hand for the annual media luncheon and draw on Friday at Alltell Arena, where all seven institutions randomly drew its starting event.

"The draw couldn't be better for us," Thompson said.  "It allows us to sit out a rotation and let the judges get their feet wet.  It will also give us a bye to decide what we are going to do on floor.  It's possible we might just send four girls on floor, but we will make that decision during the bye time."

Auburn will then begin on bars, followed by beam, a bye, floor, a bye and finishing up on vault.

Following the media luncheon and draw, the Tigers made their final preparations for the championships with their scheduled practice session at 1 p.m. Each team was allotted a 20-minute warm-up per event.

Similar to Olympic and other international competitions, the 2007 SEC Championships will be held on a podium for the second straight season. Saturday's meet will feature seven of the top 25 programs in the country, including the top four, making it the premier conference championship in the country.
