BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Auburn junior gymnast Leah Vining has been named to the Southeastern Conference Gymnastics Community Service Team the league office announced Wednesday. The Gymnastics Community Service Team represents seven SEC gymnasts, one from each competing institution and looks to highlight a student-athlete who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

During the 2009-10 year, Vining has participated in a variety of community service projects. In October she participated in the Cater Hall Illumination for breast cancer awareness. She also ran in the Read to Run Race and AORTA Breast Cancer Race. She was a part of Auburn's Downtown Trick or Treating, Toys for Tots Drive and participated in the Opelika Christmas Parade.

The Woodstock, Ga., native also participated in the senior citizen gift wrap and was a car pool assistant for Auburn elementary schools.

"This is a tremendous award," said Vining. "I'm honored to be the representative for Auburn University and for my team. This award stretches way beyond me, and is a true reflection on how much work our team does in the community."
