Birmingham, Ala. -
For the second year in-a-row, Auburn gymnast A.J. Mills has been named to the SEC Good Works Team, the Southeastern Conference announced Tuesday.
"A. J. understands what it means to give something back to the City of Auburn and Lee County and we are glad to see that she has been recognized for that giving spirit," said Auburn head coach Jeff Thompson. "A. J. is always coming to us with new ideas for community service projects. She is the first one to volunteer to organize everything we do in the community."
Mills' selection comes after her participation in a slew of community service activities in and around Auburn and Lee County. She has participated in Trick-or-Treat activities with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and Family Fun Night at the Auburn Early Education Center. She has also volunteered at several Auburn Gymnastics Academy events and "Cyber Safety Night" at Cary Woods Elementary School. She participated in the "Beat Bama" canned food drive and the SEC `We Can" food drive.
Mills and the Tigers finished up their regular season last week in Tuscaloosa. They will head to Duluth, Ga., this week to compete in the SEC Championship on Saturday, March 29, at 4 p.m., ET, in The Arena at Gwinnett Center.
