BIRMINGHAM - Auburn gymnastics head coach Jeff Graba has been named the 2014 Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year by vote of the league's coaches the SEC announced on Friday.
The award is the second for the fourth-year head coach, who was named co-Coach of the Year in 2012.
Graba led the Tigers to the second-highest score in program history in 2014, as well as the top road score in the history of Auburn gymnastics. He has guided Auburn to a national ranking of No. 12 overall in 2014 and the fifth-seed at the SEC Gymnastics Championship for the second consecutive year.
In the last two seasons, Auburn has equaled or surpassed 197 three times. In the 38 years of competition prior the Tigers had reached 197 only once.
While serving as lead coach on vault, Graba has mentored Auburn's lineup to a ranking of eighth nationally, including the second and third highest vault totals in Auburn history.
This is the sixth time an Auburn head coach has won SEC Coach of the Year since the award's origination in 1985. Graba joins former Auburn head coaches Robert Dillard (1991 and 1999) and Jeff Thompson (2003 and 2008) as two-time honorees.
Auburn competes in the 2014 SEC Gymnastics Championship on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the BJCC. For the latest on Auburn gymnastics, follow @AUGymnastics on Twitter.
