AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn gymnastics is ranked 12th nationally this week and will be the fifth seed at this Saturday’s SEC Gymnastics Championships at the BJCC Arena in Birmingham.

The Tigers will be the top seed in the afternoon session that begins at 2 p.m. Tickets for Saturday’s championship meet are available at http://www.gymnasticschamps.com/sec-championship.php.

Auburn scored 196.550 to win the afternoon session in 2013 in Little Rock, Ark. That total was the highest in program history at the SEC Championship meet and the Tigers’ best score since 2009.

Auburn holds a regional qualifying score of 196.560, but can improve that number with a solid performance on Saturday.

Sophomore Caitlin Atkinson enters the meet as the seventh ranked all-arounder in the country with an RQS of 39.500.

There are four SEC schools in the top-six nationally and six in the top-20, led by No. 1 Florida and No. 2 LSU.
