BIRMINGHAM – Junior gymnast Megan Walker has been named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service team, the league office announced on Wednesday.
“Megan is such a caring and giving person, it doesn't surprise me she is getting this award,” Auburn head coach Jeff Graba said. “Megan has always found it important to give back and reach out to the community that has given her so much. I'm very proud of the person Megan Walker has become and I can't think of anyone more deserving of this award.”
Walker is an Auburn Leadership Institute volunteer leader and a Children’s Ministry volunteer leader at Cornerstone Church. She has volunteered with Toys for Tots, the Beat Bama Food Drive, the SAAC Clothing Drive and the Conklin Middle School Charity Race.
She is also a volunteer elementary school speaker with the Auburn gymnastics team and is a volunteer coach at the Southern Tier Gymnastics Academy. Walker is the gymnastics representative to Auburn’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and a member of the 2013 SEC Gymnastics Community Service Team.
Walker is a two-time member of both the SEC Academic Honor Rolls and the Auburn University Dean’s List. She is a member of the Alpha Lamba Delta honor society.
