AUBURN - Coming off of its third win of the season in the final gymnastics event in Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum over the Denver Pioneers, the Auburn gymnastics team is ranked No. 17 in the latest edition of the GymInfo Collegiate Gymnastics poll, the organization released Sunday.
Auburn (3-5, 2-4 SEC) is ranked No. 17 with a 195.510 Regional Qualifying Score (RQS). Additionally, Auburn is ranked fourth in the Central region rankings behind Alabama, LSU and Kentucky.
"This weekend's meet is a big meet for us," said head coach Jeff Thompson. "Hopefully we can perform well on the road and drop our low score of the season. We're going to continue to be ranked 15-20 until we can do that."
Junior Rachel Inniss is Auburn's highest-ranked gymnast as she is No. 23 in the country on beam with a 9.845 average, while sophomore Allyson Sandusky is the other Auburn gymnast ranked in the top 30 at No. 27 on bars (9.845).
Senior Krissy Voss ranks 30th in the all-around competition with a 39.055 average, while four of Tiger beam competitors are ranked in the top 100. Inniss leads the way, and is followed by sophomore Kylie Shields (38th, 9.820), Sandusky (49th, 9.805), and Voss 79th, 9.775).
In event-by-event rankings, the Tigers are 11th on beam (48.995), 16th on bars (48.920), 17th on vault (49.030) and 35th on floor (48.655).
With the home portion of Auburn's season now completed, the Tigers hosted four of the top five teams in the nation, as Alabama tops the poll (197.155). The Crimson Tide is followed by Oklahoma (196.920), UCLA, (196.900), Florida (196.685), and Georgia (196.615).
Two other opponents Auburn has faced this season are No. 7 Arkansas (196.375) and No. 10 LSU (196.110).
Auburn returns to action Saturday, March 13, as the Tigers begin a two-meet road swing as Auburn will travel to Columbus, Ohio to take on unranked Big Ten opponent Ohio State from St. John Arena.
