No. 16 Gymnastics Aiming For Solid Road Score at SEMO
March 5, 2012
AUBURN – With just one road trip remaining during the 2012 regular season, No. 16 Auburn is aiming to add another solid road score to its impressive run of high point totals and believe a new road focus can help them get there. “I want to build on what we’ve been doing recently,” Auburn head coach Jeff Graba said. “We’ve done a bunch of 24-for-24s. I think we need to do that one more time. At Kentucky, we changed our road schedule and we felt it worked pretty well. We are going to maintain that for this trip. We also need a good road score. It would be nice to go out and do a good job. Our road score is what is holding up our ranking more than anything. That’s the goal. Go out, do a good job, get a good score and keep this ball rolling.” Even with a solid score of 196.700, the fourth-best mark in school history, Auburn dropped one spot in this week’s RQS rankings to 16th. The Tigers have been building since January with the hope of peaking in the gym at the end of the season and Graba believes the team has that point on the horizon. “I really feel that we are going in the right direction skill-wise, competition-wise and conditioning-wise,” Graba said. “We are doing what everyone ends up having to do, and that is battle through injury and sickness. We’ve had a couple of bouts with sickness here lately. I think everybody is going a good job of making it work and adjusting because that’s part of the job. We’re going in the right direction. We’ve dealt with some adversity and gotten better. They are really building in confidence.” Tickets for the 2012 NCAA Regional featuring the Auburn gymnastics team at Auburn Arena are on sale now. Tickets are general admission and are $5 for youth and students and $10 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.AUBTIX.com or by phone at 855-AUB-2010.
