Auburn Gymnastics Wednesday Update
March 2, 2011
AUBURN - The Auburn gymnastics team (3-5, 2-4 SEC) is wrapping up final preparations for a trip to Utah that will include two meets in four days. After scoring a season high of 195.925 at home last week, the Tigers will meet BYU (10-3-2) on Friday before competing in a tri-meet at Southern Utah (6-4, 3-1 WAC) on Monday. "We've changed things around this week at practice," Auburn head coach Jeff Graba said. "Through practice, we found out we're a little deeper on some of the events now that everybody's relatively healthy, or as healthy as you can be this time of year. I feel like we're in a pretty good spot." Throughout practice this week, Auburn has prepared to utilize a full roster in competition this weekend. The Tigers are also looking forward to working a couple of the gymnasts back into the all-around. "We're anticipating that we won't keep the same lineup for both meets simply because you don't want to beat people up," Graba said. "We basically have three meets in seven or eight days, so we're going to have to be careful with who we use. There will be some shifting around, is my anticipation. "Then we also have a Saturday practice in Utah that we'll try to possibly utilize to change things up. We had it set yesterday, we have practice today, and we'll see how everybody's doing Thursday night before the meet. We're trying to get Kylie (Shields) and Toi (Garcia) into the all-around. The problem is who to take out because we've typically been doing a better job these last few weeks." The Tigers will face BYU Friday night at 9 p.m. CT at the Smith Fieldhouse before heading south Monday to take on Southern Utah in a tri-meet with BYU at 9 p.m. CT in the Centrum Arena.
