No. 15 Auburn vs. Southern Utah | Friday, 7 p.m. CT
Auburn, Ala. | Auburn Arena
AUBURN – No. 15 Auburn returns to Auburn Arena for its annual Pink Meet on Friday when Southern Utah visits The Plains at 7 p.m.
“I have a lot of respect for Southern Utah and what Scott Bauman has done with that program,” Auburn head coach Jeff Graba said. “I feel I am very familiar with SUU since I have competed against them for many years now on a variety of teams. What SUU does so well is they maximize their talent every year and they have been able to be a top 25 team on a consistent basis. We cannot let our guard down against this team and I fully expect our team to come out strong.”
The Tigers have put in a strong week of practice in preparation for the meet with Southern Utah and Graba was pleased with the team’s work this week.
“Practice has gone great this week,” Graba said. “The team has picked up where it left off last week and we have had some of our best practices of the year the last few days. Everyone is settling into their roles and we are beginning to look comfortable in the system.”
Friday’s meet also serves a dual purpose as it gives the gymnastics program and Auburn University as a whole a chance to bring attention to a worthy cause in breast cancer research.
“I think the ‘Pink Meet’ is a tremendous opportunity not only to increase awareness for the fight against breast cancer, but also to remind all of us about the people in our own lives that have struggled with this disease,” Graba said. “This meet hits me personally since I remember my mother dealing with this disease while I was a young child. My mom will be in attendance at this meet and is looking forward to sharing the experience with me and the team.”
Auburn enters with an RQS score of 195.515, compared to Southern Utah’s RQS of 193.240.
