AUBURN - No. 11 Auburn gymnastics has its highest rank in nearly four years and is coming off a program record score, but the Tigers must re-focus quickly with 23rd-ranked Maryland visiting for the annual Flip for the Cure Pink Meet on Friday at 7 p.m. in Auburn Arena.
Tickets are still available for Friday's meet at www.AUBTIX.com or by calling 855-AUB-2010. Reserved individual meet tickets may be purchased, depending on availability, for $7. Adult General Admission tickets are available for $5 and Youth General Admission tickets are available for $2.
Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer research. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive free pink shakers.
"We didn't think we had a perfect meet by any means last Friday," Auburn gymnastics head coach Jeff Graba said. "It was good that we did achieve the high score, because we proved to ourselves and a lot of people that we are that good. Now, we just have to repeat. We don't have to start from scratch on it. Secondly, we need to look at the meet and not be happy. I think we left some points on the floor and I think we are ready to find those this week.
"This is our opportunity to prep and prepare for the postseason. It's going to come down to a tenth or two tenths and we need to be ready for that."
The Tigers recorded a program-best 197.175 on Friday in a victory over No. 5 LSU. It was just the second win by Auburn over a top six program and first since 2004.
The No. 23 Terrapins are on top of the EAGL and have won three-straight meets, including a first place finish in a quad-meet with Bridgeport, George Washington and Pittsburgh with a total score of 195.600 last week.
The meet is the second of three consecutive home meets. The Tigers close out the home schedule next Friday against Lindenwood.
