LEXINGTON, Ky. --
No. 11 Auburn gymnastics hits the road again on Friday to face 24th-ranked Kentucky in Memorial Gymnasium at 6 p.m. CT.
“We have typically in the past struggled against Kentucky,” Auburn head coach Jeff Graba said. “We need to be on our game and be focused. This is an away meet, it’s another SEC program and we are trying to get things figured out on our end. This is very important in terms of scoring and Kentucky is traditionally very good at home.”
Auburn stands 11th nationally in the debut week of the regional qualifying score (RQS). The low end score for the Tigers in the equation is currently the total of 195.950 from the road meet at Air Force on February 8.
Any score higher than 195.950 would mean an improvement in the RQS for Auburn.
The Tigers had three gymnasts compete events for the first time in their collegiate careers last Friday against Georgia. Megan Walker (floor exercise), MJ Rott (uneven bars) and Kullen Hlawek (vault) were all in lineup on events for the first time collegiately.
Auburn faced Kentucky three times in 2013, including a difference of nearly two full points at the SEC Gymnastics Championships (Auburn’s 196.550 to Kentucky’s 194.600).
