LEXINGTON, Ky. - No. 15 Auburn gymnastics looks to secure another quality road score on Friday when it faces Kentucky and Pittsburgh and Memorial Gym.
"We are excited to continue this progress this weekend at Kentucky," Auburn head coach Jeff Graba said. "It will be a great meet with a rival SEC team and Pitt. We are going into it trying to build on our 23 for 24 showing last Friday."
The Tigers hit the gym hard throughout the week as they aim to continue the solid scoring effort they produced against Florida. In the meet with the Gators, Auburn scored 196.875. That total is the second highest in school history and the best for the Tigers since 2004.
"Practice has gone extremely well this week," Graba said. "The team has been focused and motivated. I believe they are ready to put on another strong performance this Friday against a very talented pair of teams in Kentucky and Pittsburgh."
Additionally, Auburn freshman Bri Guy was named SEC Freshman of the Week after posting a career best all-around total of 39.550. That score tied Guy for third-highest in Auburn history. Guy is the first Auburn gymnast to receive an SEC weekly award since Allyson Sandusky in 2010, and the first to be named Freshman of the Week since Sandusky in 2009.
Friday's meet will include a reunion of sorts as sophomore Nikki Galluzzo will compete against her former squad for the first time. Galluzzo spent the 2011 season with the Pittsburgh program.
