Auburn Gymnastics No. 16 in Latest GymInfo Collegiate Poll

AUBURN - The Auburn gymnastics team is ranked No. 16 in the latest edition of the GymInfo Collegiate Gymnastics poll, the organization released Sunday.
Auburn (1-3, 1-2) is ranked 16th with a 194.912 average after previously holding down the No. 15 spot.
Sophomore Allyson Sandusky leads the Tigers in three events, ranking in the top-50 nationally in the vault, on bars, and on beam. The Brookeville, Md. native will enter the Arkansas meet ranked 48th on vault (9.812), tied for 22nd on bars (9.831) and tied for 46th on beam (9.769). Senior Krissy Voss is Auburn's top all-around competitor with an average of 38.881 and ranks 38th in the nation.
"Our sport is difficult to understand. We are coming off one of the biggest wins we've ever had and drop in the rankings," said head coach Jeff Thompson. "We are looking forward to the upcoming trip. We always enjoy going to Fayetteville and anticipate a close and exciting meet on Friday."
In event-by-event rankings, the Tigers rank 14th on vault (48.944), 17th on bars (48.737), seventh on beam (48.744) and 26th on floor with a 48.847.
Two of the teams Auburn has faced this season now rank in No. 1 and No. 2 in the nation, as Alabama leads the team rankings with a score of 196.458, and is followed by Oklahoma with a 196.400. Florida, who the Tigers host on Feb. 26, moves up a spot to No. 3 (196.156). Utah comes in at No. 4, averaging a 196.956, while Oregon State closes out the top-five a 195.919. In total, all seven SEC teams rank in the top-20 in the nation.
Auburn returns to action Friday as the Tigers travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to take on No. 7 Arkansas from Barnhill Arena. The meet will be televised on a tape-delayed basis by ESPNU on Feb. 14 at 3 p.m. CT.
Arkansas is coming off a season-high score of 196.750 on Jan. 29 in a win over No. 12 Kentucky, evening their record at 2-2 on the season. The Razorbacks set season-high scores on vault with a 49.25 and a 49.10 on beam.
