BIRMINGHAM – Auburn gymnast MJ Rott has been named SEC Freshman of the Week for her performance at then No. 2 LSU as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Rott scored a nearly perfect 9.975 on vault in just her third collegiate meet. The score ties for the program record with former Auburn gymnast and three-time All-American Julie Dwyer.
It was the top vault score since 2008 for Auburn.
The score helped the Tigers record the second-best vault total in program history with a 49.425. Rott competed in three events on the day, helping Auburn to a 196.825, the best road score in program history.
Rott is the third gymnast on the Auburn roster to be named freshman of the week in their career, joining Caitlin Atkinson (2013) and Bri Guy (2012).
Auburn is in action next on Friday when it visits No. 10 Arkansas. For the latest on Auburn Gymnastics, follow @AUGymnastics on Twitter.
