AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn gymnastics team is ranked No. 15 in the latest edition of the GymInfo Collegiate Gymnastics poll, the organization released Sunday. Auburn is ranked 15th with a 195.325 average after previously holding down the No. 11 spot. A pair of sophomores highlight the individual rankings for the Tigers, as Allyson Sandusky is 18th on bars with a 9.842 average. Classmate Kylie Shields is ranked 27th with a 9.817 average on beam. Senior Krissy Voss, coming off the best all-around performance of her career against LSU, is ranked 33rd in the all-around with a 38.933. "We're just continuing the process," said head coach Jeff Thompson. "Part of the process is learning how to recover from a bad routine, and a bad meet. We look forward to doing that on Friday against a talented Georgia squad." In event-by-event rankings, the Tigers rank 15th on vault (48.942), 18th on bars (48.950), eighth on beam (48.925) and 30th on floor with a 48.375. Two of the teams Auburn has faced this season now rank in No. 1 and No. 2 in the nation, as Alabama leads the team rankings with a score of 196.458, and is followed by Oklahoma with a 196.400. Utah (195.992), and Florida (195.967). Stanford closes out the top-five with a 195.833. This week's opponent, the Georgia GymDogs, are ranked No. 8 with a 195.717. Auburn returns to action Friday against No. 8 Georgia. The meet begins at 7 p.m. CT from Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum. All fans are encouraged to wear orange, as the meet is an "All Auburn, All Orange" event. Additionally, five-hundred flashlight key chains will be handed out, courtesy of Verizon Wireless. The meet will also be broadcasted tape-delayed by CSS, and will re-air on Feb. 2. The time will be announced at a later date.
Georgia is coming off a 196.550-196.500 setback to then-No. 6 Utah, despite its highest total score in front of a record crowd of 15,552 at the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City on Jan. 22. |
