AUBURN - The Auburn women's golf team signed Megan Wilshire during the Early Signing Period, Auburn head coach Kim Evans announced Tuesday. Wilshire will join the Tigers for the 2012-13 season and comes to Auburn from Scott County High School in Georgetown, Ky.
"We are really happy with Megan and the enthusiasm she brings to the team," said Evans. "She is a hard worker and a fierce competitor - we welcome her to the Auburn family."
In 2010, Wilshire was the Kentucky Junior Amateur Champion as well as the International Junior Golf Tour Greenbrier Champion. In 2011, she shot a low-score of a 66 to win the 2011 Kentucky All State Invitational.
On the national level, Wilshire finished 18th at the 2011 Scott Robertson Memorial. Playing in American Junior Golf Association events last season, she finished tied for 20th and 16th, respectively, at the Woodward Video Junior at the Greenbrier and the Exide Technologies Junior Open.
In 2009, she finished 17th at the NRP Bluegrass Junior. A year before, in 2008, she finished 14th at the Arkansas Junior at The Blessings, the site of the 2012 Southeastern Conference Tournament.
The No. 3/5 Auburn women's golf team has completed its fall season with four top-three finishes. The Tigers will return to action Feb. 12-14, 2012 at the Central Florida Invitational.
