AUBURN - The No. 8 Auburn women's golf team will travel to Austin, Texas, this weekend for the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, beginning play on Sunday, Oct. 28. For the Tigers, it is the last of their three tournaments in a four-week span.
Hosted by the University of Texas, the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational is a 54-hole tournament played at the University of Texas Golf Club. The par 72 course will play at 6,344 yards for the tournament.
The field of 14 teams features seven teams currently in the GolfWorld/WGCA top 25 rankings. Auburn will play against No. 2 Florida, No. 3 Arizona State, No. 6 Alabama, No. 10 UCLA, No. 19 Texas and No. 20 Pepperdine.
"We have not played this course, so we're really excited to get to the practice round and develop a game plan, but it's a great field," said Auburn head coach Kim Evans. "It's got a great tradition and we're just excited to get there and play it."
Other teams competing are Arkansas, Denver, UNLV, Kent State, New Mexico, TCU, Tulsa and Illinois.
"Everyone has practiced hard on their own and had some good organized practices," said Evans. "We have a better rested team, and we're ready to go."
Tee times will begin at 8:15 a.m. CT, Sunday with a split-tee start. Auburn will lead off the day, going off No. 1 from 8:15 - 8:51 a.m. CT. The Tigers will play alongside Arizona State and Illinois. Live stats will be posted at www.golfstat.com.
