AUBURN, Ala. - The No. 24 Auburn women's golf team will travel to Palo Alto, Calif., this week to play in the Stanford Intercollegiate hosted by Condoleezza Rice. The event is the final fall tournament for the Tigers.
Hosted by Stanford University, the Stanford Intercollegiate is a 54-hole tournament played at the Stanford University Golf Course in Stanford, Calif. The par-71 course will play at 6,130 yards for the tournament. The event features 16 teams from around the country, including 10 teams ranked in the top 25 in the nation.
"We've had a good couple weeks of practice and we are excited to be out in California, playing at Stanford," said associate head coach Andrew Pratt. "This is another tough field. We have played in three of the toughest fields in the country so far this fall and this week is no different. It will be a challenge for our players, but I am looking forward to seeing how they play."
Auburn's lineup this week will feature senior Diana Fernandez, senior Marta Sanz, junior Victoria Trapani, sophomore Jamie Yun and freshman Clara Baena. Trapani leads the Tigers on the season with a 73.33 stroke average. Sanz follows closely behind Trapani with a 73.60 average.
Joining the Tigers in the field are No. 1 UCLA, No. 2 Southern California, No. 3 Stanford, No. 5 Washington, No. 8 Pepperdine, No. 12 Vanderbilt, No. 18 Kentucky, No. 23 Northwestern, No. 25 California, Oregon, Georgia, California-Davis, San Jose State, Oregon State and Washington State.
Play is set to begin with tee times from the Nos. 1 and 10 tees at 10:30 a.m. CT, Friday. Auburn will play with Northwestern and Oregon, going off No. 10 from 11:15 - 11:51 a.m. Fans can follow along with live stats at Golfstat.com.
