AUBURN - The Auburn women's golf team will compete at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational on Oct. 5-7, at the par 72, 6,285-yard UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C. The tournament is the third of the fall season for seventh-ranked Auburn.
The field at the Lady Tar Heel features nine teams that are currently ranked in the top-25 including Auburn, No. 2 Duke, No. 20 East Carolina, No. 11 Georgia, No. 8 Oklahoma State, No. 12 Tennessee, No. 14 Texas, No. 16 Vanderbilt and No. 18 Wake Forest. The College of Charleston, Florida State, Kentucky, North Carolina, N.C. State, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Tulsa and Virginia round out the 18-team field.
The Tigers will play with their third different lineup this season, featuring Cydney Clanton, who is ranked 13th in the nation, followed by Mariana Macias, Margaret Shirley, Candace Schepperle and Abigale Schepperle .
The first and second rounds tee off on Friday and Saturday at 8 a.m. CT. Sunday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. CT. Live scoring can be followed at www.golfstat.com and daily updates can be found at www.auburntigers.com.
This will be Auburn's 10th trip to the Lady Tar Heel Invitational. The Tigers finished eighth at the tournament a year ago, carding a three-round total of 914. This year's lineup will feature three of the five players from last year's team at this tournament (Shirley, C. Schepperle and A. Schepperle). C. Schepperle was Auburn's top finisher a year ago, as the then-freshman tied for 11th (76-78-70--224).
Auburn will tee off of hole 1 at 8:45 a.m. CT with Vanderbilt and Oklahoma State.
