AUBURN- The fourth-ranked Auburn women's golf team is in second place after one round of the NCAA Women's Fall Preview at the par 72, 6315-yard LPGA International Legends Course in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The Tigers finished the day with a 10-over 298 and trail tournament leader Georgia by nine strokes. Tennessee is a stroke behind Auburn with an 11-over 299. Arizona State and Vanderbilt round out the top five with a 12-over 300 and a 14-over 302, respectively.
Auburn senior Nicole Hage leads the Tigers individually. She is tied for eighth after shooting a one-over 73. Hage was two under par after three holes, but had two bogeys and a double-bogey to go with her lone birdie on the back nine. She is followed by Jessica Lovell, who shot a 2-over 74 (16th place) and Abigale Schepperle, who shot a 3-over 75 (21st place). Candace Shepperle shot a 4-over 76 (27th place) and Margaret Shirley shot a 5-over 77 (35th place) to conclude play for the Tigers.
Auburn will tee-off the second round Saturday morning beginning with Margaret Shirley at 8:30 CT. The Tigers will play the round with Georgia and Tennessee. Live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com and daily updates can be found at www.auburntigers.com.
