Auburn Women's Golf Set To Begin 2007-08 Season At Mason Rudolph Championship

AUBURN - The Auburn women's golf team will begin the 2007-08 season Friday at the 2007 Mason Rudolph Women's Championship, hosted by Vanderbilt University.

The 54-hole tournament will be played Friday through Sunday at the Vanderbilt Legends Club on the Ironhorse Course, a par 72, 6,217- yard course.

The 17-team field showcases the top nine teams in the country, according to GolfWeek, including Duke, Arizona State, USC, UCLA, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Vanderbilt and Arizona. Other schools participating ranked among the top 27 teams include Wake Forest, Florida, Georgia, Stanford, South Carolina and LSU.

Kentucky and Georgia will also be in attendance.

Auburn's lineup for the tournament consists of freshman Cydney Clanton, sophomore Candace Schepperle, senior Margaret Shirley, sophomore Marisa Milligan and freshman Sarah Thead.

Junior Mariana Macias will be competing as an individual player.

Auburn last participated in the tournament in 2005 and finished fifth out of a 15-team field.

The first round of the tournament will tee off at 8 a.m. CT on Friday. Tee times for rounds two and three on Saturday and Sunday will be based on Friday's results.
