AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn senior Marta Sanz has been named one of GolfWorld's Top 50 Players to Watch, the magazine announced Thursday. The list will appear in the Sept. 2, 2013 issue.

Sanz, a native of Madrid, Spain, is one of four returning players from Auburn's lineup last year. Auburn's leader in stroke average with a 74.18 on the season, she led the Tigers to a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championship, Auburn's best finish at the tournament in eight years.

Sanz tied for 10th individually at the NCAA Championship, one of four top-10 finishes on the season and six top-20 finishes. She carded nine sub-par rounds on the year, including eight in the 60s. For her effort, she was named WGCA Honorable Mention All-American and selected to the All-SEC Second Team.

Over the summer, Sanz led the Spanish national team to a championship title at the European Ladies Amateur Team Championship in York, England. The Spaniards were second after two rounds of stroke play and went on to defeat France, England and Austria in match play.

Auburn will open the 2013-14 season Sept. 8-10 as the Tigers travel to the Cougar Classic in Charleston, S.C.
