Carmel, Ind. -
The Tiger women's golf duo of Candace Schepperle and Margaret Shirley ended their run on Thursday in the second round of match play at the U.S. Women's Amateur at the Crooked Stick Golf Club.
Sophomore Schepperle and Maria Jose Uribe (Columbia) gave fans an exciting match play as it was neck-and-neck throughout 17 holes. Schepperle held the advantage going into the fifth hole and was able to maintain a 1 up lead through 12. Play remained even for the next two before Uribe birdied two of the final three to take the 2 up advantage. Schepperle bogeyed the final three holes.
Senior Shirley's match with Jennie Lee (Henderson, Nev.) was not much different from Schepperle's. Shirley held a 1 up lead through the eighth hole before play stood even for the next two. Shirley bogeyed five of the next seven holes and Lee took advantage to finish 3 up.
