Incoming Auburn freshman Sophia Schubert made the most of her final junior event, recording a 15-shot victory at the AJGA UnderArmour/Scott Stallings Championship in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, which concluded Thursday afternoon.
Schubert, playing on her home course of Oak Ridge Country Club (par 72, 6,068 yards), carded rounds of 66-66-72=204 (-12) to win going away. After back-to-back 6-under-par rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday, she carried a 10-shot lead into the final round and held steady with an even-par 72 and was the only player in the field to finish in red figures.
"I really wanted to win this event because it was at home," Schubert said. "It meant a lot to me for my family and friends to come out and support me. It was really special to play so well. I really wanted my AJGA career to end well.
For the week, she recorded 15 birdies against just three bogeys. She posted a back-nine 31 (-5) in Tuesday's first round then came back with a front-nine 30 (-6) in the second round.
Schubert, who entered the week ranked 23rd in the Polo Golf AJGA Ranking, earned her first AJGA win of the year and her fourth top-10 finish in five events. It was the third AJGA win and 15th top-10 finish of her career.
