BIRMINGHAM - Auburn junior Marta Sanz has been named to the All-Southeastern Conference Second Team, the league announced Monday. She earns the honor for the second year in a row.
Sanz, a native of Madrid, Spain, leads Auburn in stroke average with a 74.77. She also has three top-10 finishes and a top-five finish on the season. Sanz leads the team with five sub-par rounds and four rounds in the 60s this year.
Her best finish was a tie for third at the Liz Murphey Fall Preview, carding rounds of 67-73-73--213 (-3). The tournament was played at the University of Georgia Golf Course, site of this year's NCAA Championship.
The Auburn women's golf team returns to action this week, hosting the NCAA East Regional at the Auburn University Club. Plays begins at 7:30 a.m. CT, Thursday with tee times off the Nos. 1 and 10 tees. Admission is free for spectators.
