    First Round Cancelled At Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic Tournament set to open Saturday with a shotgun start

    ATHENS, Ga. - For the first time in the 37-year history of the event, a complete round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic women's golf tournament, hosted by the University of Georgia, was cancelled on Friday due to inclement weather.

    Rain began at approximately 4 a.m. on Friday and continued throughout most of the day. There was a brief break early in the afternoon and it appeared that play might be able to start at 3 p.m. However, the rain began again soon thereafter and continued until the course was ruled unplayable.

    The first round is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT, Saturday morning.
