AUBURN - The No. 29 Auburn women's golf team tees of at its second spring tournament at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship Sunday, Feb. 24 in New Orleans.
Hosted by Tulane, the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship is a 54-hole tournament played at the English Turn Golf and Country Club in New Orleans, La. The par 72 course will play at 6,105 yards for the tournament.
"It's a fun course, but it's difficult to read because the wind changes every day," said head coach Kim Evans. "We're expecting it to be wet conditions and windy."
The field of 18 teams features eight team currently in the GolfWorld/WGCA top 25 rankings. Auburn will face No. 1 Southern California, No. 3 Duke, No. 4 Florida, No. 6 Alabama, No. 12 Oklahoma State, No. 15 Purdue, No. 20 Texas A&M and No. 23 Baylor.
Other schools in the tournament field are LSU, Ohio State, Tulane, UCLA, Colorado, Oregon, Texas, Texas-San Antonio and Tulsa.
In the lineup for the Tigers are senior Carlie Yadloczky, juniors Marta Sanz and Diana Fernandez, and freshmen Alex Harrell and Jamie Yun.
"Carlie and Marta have really done an amazing job with their leadership and how they're playing right now," said Evans. "We're looking for the younger players to step it up and see what they can get done."
Tee times begin at 8 a.m. CT Sunday and Monday from the Nos. 1 and 10 tees. There will be a shotgun start on Tuesday at 8 a.m. Live scoring will be available at www.golfstat.com.
