AUBURN - The No. 29 Auburn women's golf team will begin its spring season in Athens, Ga., this weekend for the one-day Lady Bulldog Individual Championship, playing on Saturday, Feb. 2.
Hosted by the University of Georgia, the Lady Bulldog Individual Championship is a 36-hole tournament played at the UGA Golf Course. The par 72 course will play at 6,355 yards for the tournament.
"After a couple months off, we are excited to get out and play," said Auburn head coach Kim Evans. "This tournament is a great opportunity for some of our players to get a couple rounds in and to see the NCAA Championship course. Being an individual tournament, they just get to go out and play without the pressure of counting for the team."
The field of 13 teams features players from five teams currently in the GolfWorld/WGCA top 25 rankings. Auburn will compete against players from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia and Southern California.
Other teams with players competing include Augusta State, Chattanooga, Furman, Ole Miss, North Georgia, Southern Mississippi and Tennessee.
In the lineup for the Tigers are sophomore Nicole Quinn and freshmen Alex Harrell, Megan Wilshire and Jamie Yun.
Tee times will begin at 8 a.m. CT, Saturday off the Nos. 1 and 10 tees at the UGA Golf Course.
Wilshire tees off first for the Tigers from the No. 10 tee at 8 a.m. paired with Furman's Laura Wearn, and Quinn tees off at 8:30 a.m. from the No. 1 tee with Florida's Elcin Ulu and Georgia's Sylvie Brick.
Harrell tees off at 8:40 a.m. from the No. 1 tee with Florida's Anna Young and Ole Miss's Ericka Schneider. Yun tees off last for Auburn at 8:50 a.m. from the No. 1 tee with Ole Miss's Abby Newton and Chattanooga's Marion Duverney.
Final official results for the Lady Bulldog Individual Championship will be available at the completion of the second round.
