Women's Golf Finishes 12th At Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas - The No. 8 Auburn women's golf team concluded play at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in 12th place, carding a 903 in its last fall tournament and 18-over 306 for the final round. Senior Carlie Yadloczky had the top finish for the Tigers, tying for 11th with a 1-over 217.
Hosted by the University of Texas, the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational was a 54-hole tournament played at the University of Texas Golf Club. The par 72 course played at 6,344 yards for the tournament.
Yadloczky led Auburn overall and during the final round, carding a 1-under 71 for the day to be tied for 11th place with a 1-over 217. Junior Marta Sanz finished tied for 21st at 5-over 221, following a final round 7-over 79.
"Carile had a really solid round today," said Auburn head coach Kim Evans. "She had been so close the first two rounds, so it was nice to see her get a good start and lead us. Overall, there are some good things we can take from here, but most of all we have a good base to work from as we go into our break."
Sophomore Victoria Trapani carded a 3-over 75 on the day to be tied for 37th at 9-over 225 for the tournament, and junior Diana Fernandez ended in 74th at 25-over 241, following a final round 10-over 82.
Sophomore Nicole Quinn concluded tournament play in 75th, carding a 26-over 242 and a 9-over 81 on the day. Freshman Jamie Yun carded an 8-over 80 in the final round to end in 78th with a 32-over 248.
Florida and Alabama finished the tournament tied for first with 1-under 863s, but the Gators came away champion after the tiebreaker. Arkansas followed in third with an even par 864. Arizona State placed fourth with a 5-over 869, and Tulsa finished in fifth with a 19-over 883.
Individually, Florida's Camilla Hedberg and Alabama's Jennifer Kirby tied for first with 8-under 280s, Hedberg eventually won in a playoff. UCLA's Erynne Lee and Alabama's Stephanie Meadow tied for third, carding 5-under 211s, and Arkansas's Gabriela Lopez placed fifth with a 4-under 212.
The tournament was the last of Auburn's four fall tournaments. The Tigers have three regular-season tournaments, along with postseason, slated for the spring.
The Tigers return to action Feb. 10-12, 2013 at the Puerto Rico Invitational at the River Course at Rio Mar in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
