AUSTIN, Texas - The No. 8 Auburn women's golf team finished its first day of the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas, in ninth with an 11-over 299. Junior Marta Sanz led the team on the day with a 1-over 73, tied for 19th.

Hosted by the University of Texas, the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational is a 54-hole tournament played at the University of Texas Golf Club. The par 72 course is playing at 6,344 yards for the tournament.

"We had a pretty steady round today," said Auburn head coach Kim Evans. "We are getting close, it is just a matter of time before we put together a complete round. We just have to keep our nose to the grindstone and keep working."

Sanz led Auburn in the first round tied for 19th with a 1-over 73, while senior Carlie Yadloczky and sophomore Victoria Trapani carded 2-over 74s and are tied for 27th.

"I thought Carlie played really well today and Victoria did a nice job of coming back," said Evans. "Victoria was 5-over through the first eight holes, but picked up five birdies out of the final 10 holes to get back on track. I also thought Marta Sanz played a good, steady round and did a good job of leading us today."
