No. 8 Women's Golf Finishes 14th At Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The No. 8 Auburn women's golf team finished the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational in 14th, carding a 14-over 302 Sunday and a 57-over 951 for the tournament. Senior Carlie Yadloczky led the Tigers in the final round of play with a 2-under 70.
Hosted by the University of North Carolina, the Tar Heel Invitational was a 54-hole tournament played at the UNC Finley Golf Course. The par 72 course played at 6,285 yards for the tournament.
Sophomore Victoria Trapani placed highest for the Tigers carding an even-par 72 Sunday for a 5-over 221 overall to tie for 15th. Senior Carlie Yadloczky finished tied for 38th with an 11-over 227 after her final-round 70.
"We had some great rounds out of Carlie and Victoria today, it was good to see them finish strong," said Auburn head coach Kim Evans. "We have a lot of work to do to be a great team and we are going to get back to it this week."
Junior Marta Sanz shot an 80 on Sunday, finishing tied for 55th with a 15-over 231. Junior Diana Fernandez also shot an 80 in the final round and tied for 89th after carding a 26-over 242. Freshman Alex Harrell rounded out the lineup with an 85, finishing 94th with a 37-over 253.
Host North Carolina finished first for the tournament, carding an 8-over 827. Ole Miss and Baylor tied for second, carding 21-over 885s, while Duke placed fourth with a 23-over 887. Virginia and Arkansas tied for fifth with 24-over 888s. Individually, Florida's Isabelle Lendl placed first with a 6-under 210. Baylor's Hayley Davis came in second with a 3-under 213, and Virginia's Brittany Altomare finished third with a 2-under 214. Ole Miss' Haley Sanders and Baylor's Lauren Taylor tied for fourth with 1-under 215s.
The Tigers return to play in two weeks at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational. The tournament, hosted by the University of Texas in Austin, Texas, begins on Friday, Oct. 28.
