Women's Golf Begins Play at Lady Tar Heel Invitational

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The seventh-ranked Auburn women's golf team opened play at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational on Friday, firing a 13-over 301. The Tigers are currently tied for seventh with N.C. State with two rounds remaining at the par 72, 6,285-yard UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Three Tigers are tied for 14th after shooting 2-over 74. In her first tournament of the fall, senior Abigale Schepperle turned in three birdies, two on the back nine, to close out the day. Junior Mariana Macias carded three birdies, but five bogeys kept her from par or lower. Freshman Cydney Clanton was 1-over through 11 holes, but bogeyed 12 and finished the day at 2-over.
Sophomore Candace Schepperle fired a 7-over 79 after turning in eight bogey's or worse. She is tied for 63rd. Senior Margaret Shirley did not fare much better as she shot 10-over 82, with nine bogeys or worse. Shirley is tied for 84th.
Tulsa's Michaela Cavener leads all competitors after shooting 4-under 68. She is followed by Jacqui Concolino of Vanderbilt and Angela Oh of Tennessee, who each carded 2-under 70 and are tied for second.
In the team battle, Wake Forest leads the way after shooting 7-over 295. The Demon Deacons are followed by Tulsa (296), while Vanderbilt and Tennessee are tied for third (297).
