HANAHAN, S.C. - The Auburn women's golf team took eighth place at the 11th Annual Cougar Classic, carding rounds of 295-295-291 to finish 17-over-par for the tournament. Junior Victoria Trapani led the Tigers in the final round with a 1-under 71, finishing the tournament tied for 10th.

Auburn carded its best round of the tournament Tuesday, coming in with a 3-over 291 in the final round. All five Tigers came in at 4-over or better in the final round of play.

"Overall, today was a better day for Auburn, not where we need to be, but better," said associate head coach Andrew Pratt. "We still have a lot of work to do to get ready for the Mason Rudolph in a couple weeks, but we are getting closer each and every day. We just need to play a little smarter and be more disciplined with our decision making."

Hosted by the College of Charleston, the Cougar Classic was a 54-hole tournament played at the Yeamans Hall Club in Hanahan, S.C. The par 72 course played at 6,204 yards for the tournament. The tournament featured 20 teams from around the country, including eight Southeastern Conference teams.

Finishing in the top 10, junior Victoria Trapani led the Tigers in the final round of the tournament at 1-under 71. Trapani moved up 12 spots from a tie for 22nd in the second round, tying for 10th place in the final round of the tournament. She ended the tournament even-par with rounds of 71-74-71--216.
