Auburn Women's Golf in 15th After Day 1 in Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- The No. 29 Auburn women’s golf team finished the first day of play at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in 15th place with a 31-over 315. Carlie Yadloczky led the tigers with a 6-over 77. Hosted by South Carolina, the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate is a 54-hole tournament played at the Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C. The par 71 course plays at 6,211 yards for the tournament. Senior Yadloczky finished the first round carding a 6-over 77 tied for 45th, and junior Diana Fernandez finished at 7-over 78 to tie for 50th. Junior Marta Sanz is tied for 55th after carding an 8-over 79. Freshman Jamie Yun is tied for 66th at 10-over 81, and sophomore Nicole Quinn is in 77th after carding a 14-over 85. “We had a hard day with a lot of mental mistakes,” said head coach Kim Evans. “We will give it our best try tomorrow.” Scores were high across the board, but Arkansas has the lead at 9-over 293. North Carolina and LSU are tied for second with 11-over 295s, and Vanderbilt is in fourth with a 12-over 296. Alabama, Tennessee and Arizona State share fifth place with 13-over 297s. Individually, Arkansas’s Emma Lavy is in first with a 3-under 68, and a tie for second is shared among North Carolina’s Casey Grice, Arkansas’s Gabriela Lopez and LSU’s Madelene Sagstrom with even-par 71s. Virginia’s Brittany Altomare, Arizona State’s Noemi Jiminez and Wake Forest’s Mariana Sims are tied for fifth with 1-over 72s.
