Women's Golf Finishes 11th At Lady Puerto Rico Classic

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - The No. 29 Auburn women's golf team finished the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in 11th after carding a 16-over 304 in the final round on Tuesday, bringing the team score to a 52-over 916 for the tournament. Senior Carlie Yadloczky finished in the top 10 individually.
Hosted by Purdue, the Lady Puerto Rico Classic was a 54-hole tournament played at the River Course at the Rio Mar Beach Resort. The par 72 course played at 6,191 yards for the tournament.
"We had another tough day," said head coach Kim Evans. "Marta and Carlie both put in a great event, but we have a lot of work left to do. We will head back home and get back to work before going to New Orleans in a couple weeks."
Senior Carlie Yadloczky carded a 2-over 72 in the third round, and tied for ninth individually with a 4-over 220. Junior Marta Sanz finished tied for 22nd with a 10-over 226, carding a 6-over 78 on the final day.
Junior Diana Fernandez and freshman Alex Harrell finished tied for 59th individually with 19-over 235s. Both players carded 6-over 78s in the third round. Junior Nicole Quinn finished 83rd after carding an 18-over 90 in the third round, shooting a 44-over 260 for the tournament.
Freshman Jamie Yun, competing as an individual, finished at 17-over 223 and tied for 50th after carding a 7-over 79 in the final round.
Alabama finished the tournament in first place with a 7-over 871, and Arkansas followed in second place with a 20-over 884. Texas Tech carded a 21-over 885 to place third, and Texas Christian finished in fourth place with a 31-over 895. Iowa State carded a 32-over 896 to place fifth.
Individually, Arkansas' Emily Tubert placed first with a 3-under 213, and Alabama's Stephanie Meadow tied with Texas Tech's Kimberly Kaufman for second place, both carding 2-under 214s. Purdue's Paula Reto finished fourth at 1-under 215, while Alabama's Emma Talley, North Carolina State's Augusta James and Northwestern's Kaitlin Park carded 2-over 218s to tie for fifth.
The Tigers are back on the course Feb. 24-26 at the English Turn Golf Club in New Orleans, La., for the AllState Sugar Bowl Invitational hosted by Tulane.
