Women's Golf In 11th After 36 Holes In Puerto Rico

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - The No. 29 Auburn women's golf team carded an 18-over 306 on Monday in the second round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan, Puerto Rico. With an overall 36-over 612, the Tigers are in 11th heading into Tuesday's final round.
Hosted by Purdue, the Lady Puerto Rico Classic is a 54-hole tournament played at the River Course at the Rio Mar Beach Resort. The par 72 course is playing at 6,191 yards for the tournament.
Senior Carlie Yadloczky carded a 2-over 74 in the second round and leads the team at 2-over 146, tied for sixth in the 84-player field. Junior Marta Sanz is tied for 29th at 8-over 152, after carding a 3-over 75 for the day.
"We had another rough day, but Carlie and Marta held on for a solid day," said head coach Kim Evans. "The winds were tough, but we should have played better. We're going to give it all we have tomorrow."
Sophomore Nicole Quinn is in 81st with a 26-over 170, carding a 9-over 81 in the second round, and freshman Jamie Yun, competing individually, is tied for 37th overall at 10-over 154 after a 6-over 78 in the second day of play.
Alabama moved into the lead in the second round with a 7-over 583, and Arkansas is four strokes behind in second with an 11-over 587. Texas Tech and Texas Christian are tied for third with 21-over 597s while Iowa State is in fifth with a 22-over 598.
Individually, Arkansas' Emily Tubert is in first place with a 4-under 140 while Alabama's Stephanie Meadow is in second with a 1-under 143 for the tournament. A three-way tie for third is shared among Alabama's Emma Talley, Texas Tech's Kimberly Kaufman and Purdue's Paula Reto with 1-over 145s.
The final round of play begins with a shotgun start on Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. CT. Auburn will start on Nos. 9-12, playing alongside Southern Methodist, Kentucky and Michigan. Live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.
