Auburn Ala. -- The second-ranked Auburn equestrian team will be looking to get their first SEC win against No. 1 Georgia on Friday at 3 p.m. at the Auburn University Horse Center.
The Tigers (2-1, 0-1 SEC) are coming off a loss to No. 5 South Carolina in their opening SEC meet. The Bulldogs are currently ranked No. 1 and are 3-0 overall. Georgia is traveling to Auburn after narrowly defeating Texas A&M, 10-9. This is Auburn’s last home meet of the fall season, before hitting the road for a three-meet Texas swing.
The Equitation over Fences lineup will feature the same riders as the previous three meets, which will include Elizabeth Benson, Quincy Hayes, Christina Lin, Demi Stiegler and Jennifer Waxman. This group has a combined record of 11-4, the highest winning percentage of the four disciplines.
For Equitation on the Flat, the Tigers will ride Megan Bifano and Jennifer Delman, with double rides from Benson, Lin, and Stiegler.
For the Western events, Lucy Igoe, Griffin Knight, Katsy Leeman, Stephanie Rucci and Lacy Watson will compete for horsemanship, marking the first in the event for Leeman this season. And for reining, the Tigers will feature Julianna Cook, Cheyenne Cracraft and double rides from Knight, Leeman, Rucci.
PROMOTIONS: The meet is All Auburn, All Orange and admission is free. The Kid’s Zone will be open and offer pony rides, a mini jump course and build a horse throughout the meet. Auburn University students that attend the meet against the Georgia will earn double Ignited points.
